I spoke to the owner of dSolution program this morning. For those who are new to unit trust industry or never heard of dSolution program, dSolution is a very useful program to monitor your unit trust portfolio from any Malaysian Unit Trust Companies. Unlike your company-proprietary unit trust monitoring sotware which can only monitor their company’s unit trust funds, dSolution can monitor all funds for all major unit trust companies. Wow..kalau Mei Chin tau ni mesti dia bagi sikit komisen for promoting the software.

The best thing about dSolution is, it can compress all your or your clients investment portfolios in a page with chart. Your client will love it. My clients do.

So how if we have 2 notebooks (one that you use and the other one is your assitant use it) that have dSolution program and we would like to synchronise the data between them. The steps are:
1. During exit from dSolution program of your master (main) notebook, you make a backup to your thumb drive
2. Plug the thumb drive in to your assistant notebook. open folder dsbackup. Double click the data and extract to C:\dSolution\database
3. Done and open dSolution as usual

From yesterday 14-Oct-08 The Star newspaper “Bank Negara raided four companies in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan
on Monday on suspicion of illegal deposit taking and money laundering activities. The central bank said in a statement on Monday that it raided Buluhmas Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Jazmeen (M) Sdn Bhd, Noradz Travel & Services Sdn Bhd
and Eastana Farm Industries Sdn Bhd.”

What lesson can we learn here? Many people would love to become rich quickly and easily. They lose their rational when making decision to join any investment that can give them quick return.

During Hari Raya, one of my relatives also invite me to join the Bul.h… program. You invest approximately RM9k, you will get RM1.4k every month sampai bila2. Imagine you will get between 10% to 16% monthly escpecially when the economy is volatile globally.

My common sense, it might as well we ask all GLCs like TM, Petronas , TNB etc to stop their yearly investment (billions of RM yearly) in future projects and pump their money into this scheme. So that their staff don’t need to go to work and still get salaries sampai bila2. Good isn’t it. But this is far from truth.

Why is still many people believe in this type of scheme?

1. Lack of Knowledge

2. Greed

3. Short-cut, easy, quick

The scheme will come and go and there will be many to be trapped again in such scheme in the future. So beware and help educate your family and friends not to join those get-rich-quick program.

From Personal Money this month: Some analysts say economy and stock market  relationship (the impact in term of time) is between 3 to 6 months. It is predicted that the economy will be OK on 2Q 2009. Thus it is foresee that the stock market will improve on 3Q 2009.

3. What to say when we meet client during market crisis
Do you remember that we recommend -20% return of investement to cut loss. But when things happen, do we contact our investors. We need to meet our clients and educate them that the market has experienced more than 80% down in 1998 and yet rebound.

What do you do when your investor marah? Verbal tai-chi method: align, acknowledge and then respond. So come to our Saturday training for Verbal Tai-chi method

What to respond? Show them the KLCI chart history, testimonial from clients that has invested more than 5 years, Personal Money article that predicts when the market will recover etc. Ask them to stay. Tapi kalau client insist to redeem their portfolio even with many attempt to convince them, then we help them to redeem.

Tell them whenever is crisis, who is buying: Warren Buffet etc. Grab the opportunity. How many time you will see crisis like this during your working lifetime. It may be maximum of 3 times. So these are the times we can buy at a discount. Tapi people kena tahan la. Go to the basic of unit trust investment: medium to long term.

I just read an ebook by one of the MLM gurus, Bo and Ty. I can summarise here 5 important points for you to consider before you join any MLM, Unit Trust or Takaful companies:

1. The Product – must be unique, effective and has a strong brand
2. The Company Leadership – must have success track record of developing agents’ business 
3. Your Upline Leadership – How they will teach you. Do they combined the offline and online techniques. How they leverage the power of the internet?
4. Compensation – is the compensation plan fair for new agents as well as seasoned professionals
5. Timing – is it the best time, good time or bad time to get started with the company

p.s. I am looking for books or ebooks that will help us, the unit trust consultants on how to build our business but unfortunately none in the market (Malaysia as well as globally) that has direct book title such as “How To Build A Multi-Million RM Unit Trust Agency in 3 Years”. Thus, the best thing to do is to search for MLM books and insurance books. Please let me know if you come across any books out there that has direct title on building unit trust business from scratch.
